How a Bicycle Works by DAM

Bicycles are a kind of transport.

Before the rider rides the bike they have to put their helmet on so that they don’t crack their head. The rider rides the bike.

Next the rider sits on the seat.

Then the rider holds the handle.

They put their feet on the pedals and they push.

The sprocket moves around so the chain starts to go around the sprocket.

Then the wheels go around.

Bicycles by JPN

A bicycle is a machine that people can ride to go somewhere and also sometimes people ride bicycles to give some other people newspapers.

They have two big wheels but some have little wheels. Some bikes have a bell. Some don’t have a bell. Also they have pedals that can make the wheels move and then the bicycle can move too. Some bicycles have baskets.  Sometimes they are rainbow bicycles.

Bouncing Ball Investigation

This week we did an investigation to find out if it was true that:

“the greater the height that a ball drops from, the higher it will bounce”

We worked in groups to drop different types of balls from 150cm, 100cm and 50cm and recorded how high each ball bounced. Everyone in our group had a job to do. There was a bouncer, a measurer, a recorder, a resource collector and a reporter.

We found out that when you drop the ball from the tallest height, the ball bounces higher because it has more potential energy!
